Check if your return was filed, by checking your e-file status. If no status is showing then the return was not completed and submitted.

  • If you don't see a status, go through the TurboTax File section again. Be sure to go all the way to the end and select Transmit my returns now.
  • If your return shows pending on your e-file status, after January, e-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 48 hours or more before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected.
  • If your return does show a status, then once "Accepted" within 24 hours you can start tracking your refund on the IRS  Where’s My Federal Refund? site.

Also, the IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review.

Now if you claimed "Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)" you may experience a refund hold. The IRS usually begins issuing tax refunds on returns with the EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit in late February.

Some 2019 federal refunds are delayed due to the PATH Act

Continue checking the Where’s My Federal Refund?  tool for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight. You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status.
