Question

Will I get in trouble if I forgot to add my personal property tax on my car? If not should I amend? If I amend will it affect my refund? Is it worth the time to amend?

No, you will not get into trouble for that. Car property taxes are only deductible in some states. So depending on which state you live it may or may not be relevant. However, it is not a federal deduction and does not affect your federal taxes. 

 

Whether you amend your taxes or not, you may want to consider the administrative costs against what additional tax savings you may receive from the state.
