I submitted my original tax return and then had to amend it to remove a dependent. I still received the full amount i was going to receive before amending my return. Will the IRS ask me to return it?

You need to complete your amendment to see how much you have to pay back. The original refund is shown on your amended tax return, so if your amended return says $500 tax due, that is the amount you have to pay back.
