do i, as a self employed boss, have to have my taxes filed for the current year in order to send 1099's?

Your tax return does not have to be filed to issue 1099's to your independent contractors.   Annually the the deadline set by the IRS is January 31st for distributing the forms to vendors.

WoW! you are amazing, i feel so much better already! One more quick question, about the deadline, obviously, it is august, so is this year out then, as far as 2023 goes? I shouldn't bother filing any?

Correct - Once the year ends then you are required to furnish the payee statements by January 31 and file with the IRS by February 28 (March 31, if filing electronically).
