199A Mess with Turbotax

I have $3 for 199A (Box 5) from a 1099-DIV form for a Vanguard Balanced Index Admiral fund.  When this is entered it is creating a Schule K-1 Partnerships and it is asking me enter partnership name and asking me to choose General or Limited Partner.  I have no idea what to enter. Can someone help?

It shouldn't have created a K-1, but you do get a tiny little business credit for it.  Go ahead and leave the partnership name blank and enter limited partner and move on.

Just to check - you did enter the amount from box 5 of the 1099-DIV into the box 5 entry on the 1099-DIV form, correct?

Yes I did enter in the box 5 for 1099-div form.  When I do the final review, it flagged the error and asked me to fill in the partnership details

If I'm not mistaken, when you enter your 1099 DIV information in TT there should be a question if any more boxes have information.  Clicking on this should open up additional boxes to enter the Section 199A amount.

When I enter the money in Box 5 and finalize the tax document not filling out the partnership details is flagged as an error

I recommend deleting the entry and then re-entering as it sounds like something maybe stuck in a loop and deleting the entry and re-entering it may resolve the message.

To do this, first go to the Schedule K-1 input section to make sure you do not have any entries there.  (This assumes you do not have any other pass-through income from a Schedule K-1. If you do, only delete the Schedule K-1 that may have been generated from your input in the dividends screen.)

Then, on the screen listing the summary of your Schedule K-1 forms, select delete to the right of the generated input section.

Once you have done that, go back to the 1099-DIV input screens by following the directions in this link.

Then, toggle the arrow to pull down the details of your 1099-DIV entries.  Next, select delete or the trash can icon to next to the applicable 1099-DIV input.

Next, try to re-enter your 1099-DIV and select "my form has info in other boxes (this is uncommon)" to ensure the input section is available for Box 5.
