Can an employer deduct their portion of Social security and Medicare taxes from the employees compensation in addition to taking out the employees portion?

My employer is deducting out their portion of social security and Medicare taxes out from my salary , this is in addition to deducting my portion of social security and Medicare. Is this legal?

    have you approached the employer of this issue and what did they say. if anything?

    your recourse would be to contact the iRS but you might also need a lawyer to recover any amounts illegally withheld.

     

    you may be subject to federal income tax withholding. so are you sure this isn't what the employer is doing.

    What you are saying is highly unusual.   What makes you say or believe that the employer is withholding both the employer AND employee amounts for Social Security and Medicare?    Without any personal information---can you tell us the amounts in box 1, box 4 and box 6 of your W-2?
