To delete an item in the Sale of Business Property, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Income and Expenses and then click the Start/Revisit box in the Self-Employment section.
  2. On the Your 2019 self-employed work summary screen, click on Edit next to your business.
  3. On the screen, Here's your [business] info, click the Edit box next to Assets.
  4. On the screen, Do you want to go directly to your asset summary? mark the Yes button and click Continue.
  5. On the Business Asset Summary, click Edit next to the asset you want to change.
  6. Continue to the screen, Tell Us More About This Asset / Large Purchase.
  7. Click the box next to The item was sold, retired, stolen . . . to remove the checkmark.
  8. Click Continue.

Once you have removed the sale information, form 4797 should no longer be part of your return.

I went through these steps but form 4797 still shows in the tax forms list. I try to delete it but it will not go away. I have gone through the business side and changed the sale to a convert to personal use (which is accurate) and also went to the actual business assets form and removed it from the list, but the for is STILL THERE. Any way to get rid of it??? It shows $0 so not impacting my tax but annoying that it is still there and will be filed that way. So frustrating.
