Question

Do I report 2021 household employment taxes on my 2022 Schedule H?

I had a household employee in 2021 but not in 2022. The top of Schedule H (Form 1040) says "Calendar year taxpayers having no household employees in 2022 don't have to complete this form for 2022". However, the form asks about whether I paid "... total cash wages of $1,000 or more in any calendar quarter of 2021 ... to household employees ...", which I did (in 2021). I'm then directed to fill out Sections A and B, which requires information about the state employment taxes that I paid.

It is unclear to me if I need to fill out a Schedule H or not, and if yes, whether Sections A and B are asking about taxes I paid in 2021 or in 2022.

Would you clarify, did you select "No", to the question "Did You Have a Nanny or Household Employee?
