Door Dash milage

I have entered my 1099-NEC for Doordash driving but when I get to the milage and expenses Turbo Tax insists I upgrade to enter the milage info. It says "Upgrade to TurboTax Premium and uncover 33%
more deductions" and the only options I am given at the bottom are "Upgrade" and " I dont have expenses"

Why can't I put in my expenses without upgrading? Why do taxes have to be like pulling teeth? Turbo tax is supposed to be easy but I feel like they are just trying to irritate me into paying them more.

Here's why TurboTax asks you to upgrade to the Premium version to enter mileage and expenses:

TurboTax Premium is designed to handle self-employment income and expenses, including those related to work like DoorDash,

    • It includes all the necessary forms and features to accurately report your income and maximize your deductions, such as Schedule C
    • Upgrading ensures you get the most out of your tax return by uncovering additional deductions and providing step-by-step guidance tailored to self-employed individuals
    • While it might seem like an extra cost, it could ultimately save you money by ensuring you claim all eligible deductions.
