I have a passive loss carry over from last year -4000 and this year I have a passive gain of 9000

on federal level it calculated correctly and allow me to deduct the loss from last year. Income come out to be 5000.

but on California return for some reason income is still 9000. I cannot see the form on California without paying. How do i fix this?

To help ensure that your passive loss carryover is reported on your CA tax return, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start/Edit California tax return
  2. Select Income and adjustments
  3. Under Business, select Start/Revisit at the type of income that you have the passive loss carryover
  4. If the passive loss is for rental property, scroll through the screens until you get to Enter Passive and At-Risk Loss Carryovers
  5. Enter the carryover amount (See screenshot below)
