Form 8832 Late Election--My explanation too long, doesn’t fit on form

Part 2, line 11 of the 8832 form requires an explanation why the election is late but my explanation is too long to fit in the space provided. Can I write “See attached explanation” in the text box and attach a letter-size page to the form? I have googled this and can’t find any answer. And there’s no answer in the instructions either. What header information would I put on top of the attached page?

Also, I tried to copy and paste my explanation into the multiple-line text box on the PDF form, but the text stays in the top line and doesn’t flow to the rest of the nine lines. I was hoping I could make the text very small so I could fit it in the space available on the form, but I can’t figure out how to do it.

I’m going to mail a paper return, not e-file.

Since you will paper file it’s a simple matter to, as you suggested, write “see statement”. At the top of the statement write Form 8832 Part 2, line 11.
