Home Business - Yoga Studio

I have a yoga and fitness studio in my basement.  Clients enter my home through my front door.  They proceed down my stairs to my studio.  Can I deduct the business percentage to replace my front door? We also remodeled our home, that included flooring, painting, upgrading railings and lights over the stairs used by clients to get to the studio.  Again, can I deduct the business percentage of those costs as well?  Thanks

Yes, a business percentage of those expenses may be deducted as part of your qualified home office expense for your business.

As you go through the Home Office section of TurboTax, you will see questions about repairs or improvements made to your 'whole home' or 'office only'.  Things such as your front door replacement and remodeling of areas not in the home office would be entered in the 'whole home' boxes.  If any of the improvements pertained only to the home office, then enter those in the 'office only' boxes.  Items entered in the 'whole home' section will be prorated based on the square feet of your office versus the square feet of the whole house.
