Home office started in 2023 - why is it asking about 2022?

I started working from home in my new house in mid 2023, but when I enter this date on the "When did you start using this home office?" page, it gives me an error saying the "First day used for business" has to be in 2022. What's the reasoning behind this? Can I not claim my 2023 usage until 2025?

That section might not be ready yet.  There will be many updates to come.  Go back to it later.  Don't be in a hurry. The IRS is not opening until Jan 29 this year! So you will be waiting awhile to get Accepted or Rejected. And you might get more tax forms in the mail you forgot about or weren't expecting. The employers and banks, etc. don't have to mail the W2 and 1099 forms until Jan 31. That's why we say don't rush to file.
