Question

I was divorced and had to split the proceeds with my ex wife. Is the money i split with her considered part of the sales expenses?

no. but what did the divorce decree say. normally if there's a split each reports there own share which is usually 50/50 but can be anything. if you used a divorce attorney and are unsure contact them.  did you get a 1099-S for the entire proceeds?
