Is there a way around a schedule c form when employer classified me as an independent contractor and I never got w-2 only 1099. It keeps taking me back to schedule c.

No, if you performed a service for your income reported on Form 1099-MISC, you are considered self-employed and should be filing Schedule C for your income and expenses.

The IRS will expect to see the income reported on Schedule C.
