Solved

My wife is an estate executor (friend’s estate). I think we dont need to use Sched C and can enter the fee on Schedule 1 Form 1040, line 8. Where can I enter this fee?

You can report this income as Other Reportable Income.

In TurboTax Online, open your return and follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages and Income
  2. Navigate to the list of Income categories
  3. Locate the Less Common Income section and click on the arrow on the right
  4. Click Start next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C at the bottom
  5. On the next page, click Start next to Other Reportable Income.

If you received Form 1099-MISC for the Executor Fees, it can be reported as Other Income. If she didn't receive a Form 1099-MISC, it can also be reported as Other Income.

Generally, income from a 1099-MISC form is considered self-employment income, but follow the instructions below to enter the form so it is not included in self-employment income.

1. Open TurboTax and select Wages and Income

2. Scroll down to Other Common Income and select Start/Revisit

5. Enter your 1099-MISC and select Continue

6. Enter Estate Executor Fee for the description and Continue

7. Select None of these apply on the next screen

8. Select only the tax year for this 1099-MISC and Continue

9. Select No, it didn’t involve an intent to earn money and Continue.

Refer to the TurboTax Help article Where do I enter a 1099-MISC? for navigation instructions.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

She did not receive a 1099-MISC.

In your response, you said ... If she didn't receive a Form 1099-MISC, it can also be reported as other income... so, how do I do that?  In the turbo tax app for income, every choice seems to be form driven.
