Need help reporting foreign music royalties

Hi! I make YouTube Shorts for a living, and I'm partnered with a music company in Japan. The deal is that I use their music in my Shorts, YouTube pays them music royalties based on how many views my Shorts get, and the music company pays me half of the royalties earned. It seems like they don't have any kind of tax documents to send me, so how do I report this on my taxes?

Report royalties from intellectual property that you did not create yourself on Schedule E.  In TurboTax Premium Online, follow these steps.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & income.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of Rentals, Royalties, and Farm.
  • Click to the right of Rental Properties and Royalties.
  • At the screen Did you have any income from rentals or royalties?, select Yes.
  • At the screen What are you here to report?, select Royalty.  Click Continue.
  • At the screen We'll start with some basic info, you may select a foreign address.  Click Continue.
  • At the screen What type of royalty income, select Other intangible.  Select Continue.
