NOT able to import Retirement

I have used Turbotax Home and Business for many years. This year when I go to View > Step-by-Step > Personal tab > I will choose What I want to work on > Interest and Dividends > Do these still apply in Tax Year….>  Interest or Dividends > Mark all "Yes" > Continue> Did You receive any Interest and Dividends > Yes > Click on "Edit" by  (name of security) > Import from my bank or brokerage > Continue > etc. =I CAN import Interest and Dividends into Turbotax.

Q: This year, when I try the similar steps to import Retirement Plans, I never get to the import screen, just the manual entry.  Does anyone know why NOT this year?

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure what you mean by 'import retirement plans'.  Is this a distribution reported on a 1099-R?

You could try using the IMPORT function from the FILE menu, rather than EDIT in the Investment section.

There are two Fidelity entities in the import organization list; Fidelity Investments and Fidelity Net Benefits; they each take you to different screens.

Are both imports from the same Broker? What Broker is it?

Catina,

At Fidelity we have both qualified and non-qualified.  I CAN import non-qual. When I try the similar steps to import Qual, I never get to the import screen; instead, the next screen is the manual entry.

NOTE:  If you are thinking the issue may be that items are not available yet, that is a totally different issue: I do get a message if imports are not ready.  (EX: this week when I use Turbotax  to import Non-qual at Vanguard, we get a message that says "No Documents currently available for Import"  AND it shows with forms will be available Feb 14, 2024.)  I do NOT get that for qual.

Thanks for answering.

Dave

Thanks for replying.

REF:  Retirement Plans.  Using Turbotax Home and Business 2023 > View > Step-by-Step > Personal tab > I will choose What I want to work on > Interest and Dividends > Do these still apply in Tax Year….>  Mark all "Yes" > Continue> Did You receive any Interest and Dividends > Yes.  See Retirement Plans and Social Security. (I only have a question about the Retirement Plans, not the Social Security part.

Yes, it is a 1099-R

REF: Net Benefits.  No, we do not have Fidelity Net Benefits. We DO have Fidelity Investments.

REF: FILE menu.  I tried the IMPORT function from the FILE menu, rather than EDIT in the Investment section, and that seemed to WORK.  We have several accounts, and I will let you know how it works on the rest.

Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Best,

Dave
