Question

Partnership tip income and filing an amended return

We have a two member LLC that is being treated as a membership. When I originally filed the form 1065 for our business I didn't include the tips that the 2 members received because I thought those would be reported on the individual taxes. Neither of these 2 members are employees of the business. Based on my further research it sounds like that tip income should have been reported as income of the business and then it would show up on the K1 of the members. I went to make an amended return and according to IRS instruction if you e-filed originally you can file an amended 1065. However it doesn't seem like TurboTax supports this because TurboTax generated a 1065X instead of allowing me to file an amended 1065. So I looked into the IRS instructions on filing a 1065X and it says to send it to the original center that the tax return went to. Well  I don't have an original center since the original was efiled. How should I move forward at this point

You must send the 1065-X to the IRS service center that you would have mailed the original return to.  See Where to File Your Taxes for Form 1065.

It's based on the state you live in. The link MaryK1101 provided above lists the address you need to use based on your state.
