I got stimulus check for myself and my wife only. We got  $2,400 only. We have 2 kids that are dependent on us and under 17 years of age. We should have got  $3,400 but we only got $2,400. Why didn't we get 1,000 for our kids.

Please help

please look at your tax return and WAY over to the right next to your child's names, there are two boxes, which one is checked?  "child tax credit' or "credit for other dependents"

    Its "credit for other dependents"

    THAT is the problem......

if you can pass ALL these tests and the child is under 17 years old, the child is eligible for the up to $2000 of tax credits on your tax return and the $500 stimulus.   if you fail ANY ONE of these tests, the tax return is correct and they are not eligible for the stimulus $500

Can you pass all these tests for your children under the age of 17 when you think about your children?

    1. The child must be your son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them.
      2. The child must be (a) under age 19 at the end of the year,  or (b) under age 24 at the end of the year and a full-time student, or (c) any age and permanently and totally disabled.
      3. The child must have lived with you for more than half of the year. Temporary absences while away at college are considered living with you.
      4. The child must not have provided more than half of his or her own support for the year.
      5. If the child meets the rules to be a qualifying child of more than one person, you must be the person entitled to claim the child as a qualifying child.
      6. The child must be a U.S. citizen or U.S., Canada or Mexico resident for some portion of the year.
      7. The child must be younger than you (or your spouse, if filing jointly) unless disabled

let me know what happens and I can then advise "next steps"
