Question

Upon "federal review," it is insisting I include information for "schedule C" related to my 1099-MISC. However, I don't have a schedule C. What should I input?

A schedule C may have been generated when you entered the information from your form 1099-MISC. The form 1099-MISC normally reports Other Income as opposed to Self-Employment income, but the income reported on it can be considered self-employment income depending on how you answer the questions in TurboTax.

You can see if you have a schedule C in your program by following these steps:

  1. Tax tools (on the left menu bar)
  2. Tools
  3. Delete a form

You will see a list of the forms and schedules in your program, see if there is a schedule C listed there and if so, is it associated with the form 1099-MISC that you entered? IF so, you need to answer the questions in TurboTax based on the activity referenced on the form 1099-MISC.
