I filed taxes in Feb. 2024 and received a 1099 for contract work that I forgot about at the end of March.  Tips for refiling please?

You will need to amend your 2024 tax return for the added 1099 income.     Here are the directions to get started:   how-to-file-an-amended-return

Hello maat5,

If you already filed your 2023 return in February 2024 and received a 1099 for Contract Work, you will need to amend your return to include the 1099.  If you don't file an amended return, there is pretty good chance that IRS will be sending you a CP2000 Notice in the mail.

If I were you, I would be proactive and file an amended return.

Going forward, what you can do, so this kind of mistake doesn't happen.  Keep a tax file and throughout the year, keep some records of all the tax related items.  This way when the tax time comes, you will know all the tax related things that happened during the year.
