We have to file married-separate and in my review, it's making me fill out Form 5049 and put in an explanation to indicate we maintained separate homes when we didn't.

The form is blank and won't let me enter the dates that we shared the house. I can't find the form anywhere in my return.

Did you live together or separately? Follow these steps within the MI interview to get to the question about the Homestead Property Tax Credit. Then answer appropriately and continue from there.

1. Click "Edit" for "Credits and Taxes"

2. "Revisit" Homestead Property Credit"

3. Click "Yes" for "Household resources"

4. Click "Yes" for "Do you meet the qualifications?"

5. Continue to answer and select appropriate boxes

6. When you come to page titled "Homestead Property Tax Credit" It asks "Did you live on separate properties?"

7. Answer "Yes" or "No"
