What category is 125 in box 14 on W-2

Box 14 is where your employer can include extra info about anything they want to report to the IRS. This can make it confusing to enter the right info in  TurboTax.

To help, here are some answers to commonly asked questions:

What if box 14 on my W-2 is blank?

This one's easy...it's pretty common for this box to be blank on the W-2 and, if it is, you don't have to enter anything. Just skip it and move on.

I don't know what to do with my box 14 category?

If you don't see a place to enter your box 14 category, it's okay. For now, just enter the description and amount from your W-2.  We'll use this info to try to automatically report your category. If we can't, we'll follow up with you on another screen and ask you to enter it manually.

If you are making changes to info on this screen, you should see an option to select a category from a dropdown menu. These categories might not match exactly what's on your form, but if you see a category that's a near match, it's okay to select it. For example, you'd select New Jersey FLI tax from the dropdown menu if your W-2 shows NJ FLI or even NJ Family Leave Insurance.

If you've double-checked that none of the categories in TurboTax match what's on your W-2, just select Other (not classified). Don't worry, choosing this option won't cause issues with your return.

I have more than one box 14 item, how do I enter it?

Just select + Add another box 14 item and we'll add a new line so you can enter another description, amount, and category. Do this as many times as you need to
