What do I do if I have stars in Box 20?

I worked for State Government and Box 20 on my W-2 just has star's in it.

Please clarify: Do you pay income tax to any local government? Is there any dollars amounts reported in boxes 18 & 19 on your W-2 form?

 

If no local income tax, just ignore it.

I have this same issue.  I work for state government, box 20 is filled with asterisk.  Turbotax will not let me efile if this box is filled this way or if I leave it empty.

Box 20 on Form W-2 is used for a locality name if there is tax withheld for that locality.  If Box 20 is blank or XXX you may ignore the box.
