When doing self-employment taxes it asks a q about naming a business....do I put my name or the company I worked under as a self contractor I'm confused

That question refers to your own business (not the company that pays you on a 1099).

When you're entering your business information into TurboTax, it asks you if you use your own name for the business (meaning you haven't chosen any other name for it), or if it has a name other than your own.

Similarly, it'll ask you if you use your home address for the business or if you have a different address. Many sole proprietors don't have a separate name & address for their business; they just use their own names & addresses. That's what TurboTax is asking you about.
