Where does the amount on line 33 of Schedule 1 show up on my tax return?
The numbers on Schedule 1 do not all show on the 1040.
With the new 1040, the amount for student loan interest won't show as a separate line item. Instead, it is lumped into other amounts on Schedule 1. This amount is subtracted from line 6 of the 1040 and the RESULT is reported on line 7 of the 1040.
