Question

Where to record the expense I paid to someone on a 1099 NEC in relation to a Form 4835 (farm expense) as I do not use Schedule F but form 4835 instead

I use 4835 to report farm related income and expenses as I do NOT materially participate in farming.    I do not use Schedule F.

I am not able to find where I record a 1099 NEC EXPENSE that I PAID someone else for as a non employee on form 4835.  It is not income to me.  It is an expense.  The only place I see would be to itemize the 2 different 1099 NEC individuals I paid under "other expenses" - but since I mailed it in with a 1096 related to this particular venture - it seems it should have some place specific to "link" it to...???

You don't say what the 1099-NEC was issued for but if there is no good category, add and enter the amount under "other".

The IRS is not so concerned about matching the 1096 to you the payer, as it is with matching the 1099-NEC to the Taxpayer that needs to claim the income.
