I have 5 open credit cards and 3 that have been closed for years, but still are listed. Apparently the 3 closed may be affecting my credit score? Since they have been closed for over ten years, why are they there, and are they a negative impact?

Experian, purportedly, retains that information for 10 years while the other two may retain positive information for a longer period of time. Regardless, it should not be having an adverse impact on your score after 10 years.
