Hey joel-o. First time user turbo free 2021 & allowed charitable donation but not you. Why do they let us file & then take free filing away over charitable?

Joel-o filed with charitable donations prior to 2021 but couldnt file in 2021. I was first time user 2021 and could file charitable donations. What is going on here?

Unfortunately, there is no way to downgrade a TurboTax product once it has been upgraded. If you are using TurboTax Online, you’ll need to start a new return to change your product. To start a new return, select “Start a New Return” from under “My Returns” in the top left corner. Once you have started your new return, you can select “View All Returns” from under “My Accounts & Returns”. Then delete the unwanted return by clicking the small Trash Can next to it or “Delete” under the return’s name.

Bottom line...Turbo dis-allowed a (previous/continuing client) to use 2021 FREE submission because it involved "Charitable Dontations" (see joel-o). HOWEVER Turbo allowed me (a first time client) to use 2021 FREE version, even though my submission included "Charitable Donations". This does not add up & I have extensive auditing experience.

Another point is that Turbo locks the client out of using FREE and DIRECTS them to a NON-FREE version.

I would submit that if it worked in 2021 & my tax situation in 2022 is identical to 2021 & IF I CHOOSE to use the FREE version, I should be allowed to do this. Nothing wrong with Turbo RECOMMENDING an upgrade, BUT they should not arbitrarily FORCE the client to up-grade.
