Question

Should the child care expenses (line 21400) automatically cap the deduction at $8000, even though we paid more? Or should we enter the $8000 in line 21400 ourselves?

The summary is showing line 21400 as higher than the maximum amount allowed (because we paid more), but in previous years it has shown $8000 automically. Should I change it?

    You can claim up to a maximum of $8,000 per child for children under the age of 7 years at the end of the year.
