I am using the free file and was able to claim my donations without upgrading last year 2020.....Why the change???

My taxes are very simple and straightforward (income, deductions) the fact that this change has been made is very disappointing, but yes it solved the problem. Claiming my donations netted me a deduction of $90. After paying the $20 upgrade fee I realized a deduction of $70, not a lot of money in my eyes….. I try to give back when I can, but maybe it’s not worth it anymore?

same here! disappointing to me too. It is the same for investments. I have a very small interest income from a small investment but now i have to upgrade to premium. unfair change. I could see it if i have large investment income.
