1. I work from home for an online school. Can I claim home office expenses without being self employed?

No, you must be self-employed in order to claim home office expenses.  

 

Home office expenses were allowed for employees in the past by claiming employee business expenses on Form 2106.  However, those expenses are no longer deductible on your Federal return due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act for tax years 2018 through 2025.
