1098 form

I sold my primary house in march 2024 and bought my new house in april 2024 which is now my main home. But i recived a 1098 form for my old house and one of the questions on free file asks if the loan was used to buy fix or rebuild my main home, but i am unsure if to put yes or no because at that time it was considered my main home but it is not anymore since i sold.

If you are trying to use the Free Edition, you are not going to be able to enter itemized deductions like mortgage interest and property tax. You will have to upgrade to Deluxe.

Answer yes----at the time you had the mortgage on house #1 the loan was to buy the home.
