1099-B Capital Losses

When preparing this year's taxes, I discovered that I failed to include 1099-B capital losses with my 2023 tax filing.  I just completed a revised 2023 return (1040X) and cannot efile that and getting instructions for mailing it it.  The amended return will include a loss carryover that my 2024 tax return will reference.  That carryover is not referenced in the efiled return from last year.  I'm concerned with the potential confusion that this year's efile may cause.  Any recommendations from this community on how I should approach this?

Yes, you have taken the correct steps that would have been provided to you. There is no cause for concern.

You have the amended carryover loss and will simply add that to your 2024 tax return.

File the 2023 amended return by mail and include any form with changes as well as any new forms included in the return.  Be sure to physically sign the return before mailing. It doesn't hurt to send it by 'delivery confirmation' or 'certified mail'.

It sounds like you already know the steps to include the loss in your return however you can use the link below for additional questions.
