Adopted children name change. now social security numbers don't match..

We adopted two girls in mid 2020 and changed last name (and slight 1st name change). Was told social security numbers would stay the same. Now efile is rejected because "social security number do not match names on file...

Should I :

- say it is correct and reEsubmit the same?

- say it is correct and resubmit same by mail and write up an explanation to send with it?

- change names and E-file under their old names?

- Call IRS and get multiple different answers?..

Thoughs?

For this year, efile under their old names and see if this will be acceptable to the IRS. it sounds like a disconnect between the Social Security servers and IRS, perhaps because of the pandemic. Hopefully, next year, you will be able to file under their adopted names.
