Are caregiver costs for disabled person deductible?

The costs associated with medical care would be allowable as itemized deductions, as medical expenses. The deductible portion of medical expenses is limited to the amount greater than 7.5% of the taxpayer's adjusted gross income. Also, you would have to have itemized deductions in an amount greater that your standard deduction for them to be a benefit on your federal tax return. So they may be allowable as a medical deduction, but they might not benefit you.

You can enter them in TurboTax in the Medical section which is in the Deductions and Credits section and the program will determine if they will benefit you.
