Asphalt roof
I had a new asphalt roof installed that has solar reflective granules. Is any portion of the cost of the new roof deductible? In TurboTax, would that amount be entered as an insulation material or system?
Yes. Report it under Insulation Material or System.
You can claim the credit for ENERGY STAR certified metal and asphalt roofs with pigmented coatings or cooling granules designed to reduce heat gain.
