Business Travel Deduction

Hi,

I'm employed as a dog walker, I use my own vehicle, my vehicle is my office, and I'm not reimbursed by my employer. Initially when I started my forms, I was at a place in Deductions to add my mileage, etc. I had to stop and get more info. Now I can no longer get back to that spot to complete my form.

Please advise.

If you are a W-2 employee, none of your work expenses are deductible on your federal return.  You can go ahead and enter them because they may be deductible in some states.  But you may also want to renegotiate your employment relationship with your employer.

To get back to that section, click the tab for deductions and credits, then scroll down and look for work related expenses. You may need to select “let me choose what to work on” or “show me more choices” if the website will not show you all the options at once.
