Hi

I am a general contractor who operates windows and doors. I work at home for operations with customers and sub contactors and benders. Also I have a storage room for my materials and tools.

I know percentage of space of home but it's hard to figure out how much percentage of time for home use. and the percentage impacts directly to the amount of expense for business use home. For my reference, Please give me average percentage of time for home business use as a kind of my business type if you know. Thank you

For the Home Office deduction, there must be

  1. Regular and exclusive use.
  2. Principal place of your business

The regular and exclusive means that no other activity is done in the office- so the kids cannot use the same space to play games or watch TV. The principal place of business just means that you have no other office that you work from.

You do not have to enter a percentage of time- only daycare providers use the time factor because they would use the same space for both business and personal use.
