Can a husband file standard deduction while the wife file itemized deduction

We are common law married.  I am disabled made 13k. Husband made 47k.  How should we file?  Our only deductions we have is donations.

No you must either both take the standard or both take itemized deductions ... and if you file separately your SS benefits are 85% taxable... so just file a joint return.

and there are special rules if you are in a Community Property State
