Can Dental Insurance premium and Long term care insurance premium be Medical expenses?

Yes, dental insurance premiums and long-term care insurance premiums may be included as a medical expense for Schedule A itemized deductions if they are paid with after-tax money.  

 

There are some limitations on the amount of long-term care insurance premiums that may be deducted based on the age of the person covered.  Be sure to enter those premiums in the correct section of the medical expenses so that the limitation can be applied.  There is a section for long-term care insurance premiums as well as a section for long-term care expenses.

 

The dental insurance may be added to other medical insurance premiums or entered separately as 'other' medical expense.
