Can I add 1040 schedule R (credit for disabled) to my turbotax filing? I cannot see how the system will ask for it?

Yes, TurboTax can do the Schedule R for you.

Log into TurboTax.

  1. On the sidebar go to Tax Tools
  2. Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
  3. You will get a box with four green squares.
  4. Select Tax Topics on the top left.
  5. Type the area you want to go to, Schedule R
  6. A screen labeled Let's see if we can get a little extra money in your pocket will come up.
  7. Follow the interview.

There is a credit for the Elderly and Disabled which is so small that very few people benefit from it—-it has not been updated/increased by Congress for decades.

The response is BS.  When I log-in to TT there is no sidebar with the "Tax Tools".  Another screwup claim by TT.

If you are on the Desktop/CD version, you are correct.  In that software I suggest you use the search and Jump to feature.

In the Online version there is a sidebar on the left hand side that does include the Tax Tools listing.
