Question

Can I claim 100% of mortgage interest deduction with my co-owner, girlfriend?

My GF and I co-own our house and both our names are on our 1098. However, only my SSN shows up on the 1098.

We split the mortgage payments, but the mortgage gets deducted only from my bank account, however. My GF transfers money to my account for her portion. So can I claim the entire deduction for simplicity sake?

Yes, you can deduct 100% of your mortgage interest.  Mortgage companies only show the "primary" borrowers social security number on Forms 1098 when there are co-borrowers.  The primary is just the first name listed.  If you wanted, you could have them change it.  The interest is deductible by whomever pays it.  Since it is drafted from your bank account, I would say you could deduct 100%.
