No. You would need to provide more than 50% of their total support (including food, housing and medical care).  Your care packages won't be more than half what the state is paying for housing.

No.    The adult is being supported by the department of corrections----not by you.   The cost of incarcerating someone far exceeds any monthly amount you are providing for incidental expenses.   

 

Any money your are providing is a gift; gifts to individuals are not deductible.
