Can I claim my foster child if they were placed for two months?

not as a qualifying child, because they would have had to live with you for more than 1/2 the year

 

 

they could be a qualifying relative if all these tests are met

Qualifying Relative
1) gross income for 2019 less than $4,200
2) taxpayer provides over ½ his support   - this would be hard to meet since they only lived with you for 2 months
3) isn’t a qualifying child of another taxpayer.
