Sales Tax Deduction

can i claim my groceries sales tax

Yes, you can include sales tax paid on groceries for the Sch A sales tax deduction.  Keep in mind that you can only claim one or the other - state and local income taxes paid or state and local sales taxes paid.

There are also two ways to deduct your sales taxes - a general predetermined amount (plus major purchases) or an actual sales tax amounts (itemized list).  You will need to keep receipts to back up any deduction amounts claimed using an itemized list.

What about sales tax on clothes, house supplies, etc.? I am in Florida and there's no income tax. I am new here and do not know what I can claim. We pay a lot in taxes at every purchase, so I was wondering if we are allowed to claim all sales taxes.
