My youngest was involved in a terrible accident in Sept of 23.  He was in the hospital for a month then rehab  for a month. He had a great job as an engineer for a defense contractor in Colorado and tehy let him work from home since he couldnt walk for 12 weeks. Unfortunately, they let him (and hundreds of others) go in March. His severence ran out in June and I have been helping hiw with finances since. His company insurace pan covered almost everthing but his Yearly Out of Pocket which I paid (7k). I have been helping him with his rent and food etc. to the tune of about 27k for 2024.
What criteria/forms/info/?? do I use to determine if and how I can claim him as a dependent?
Thanks much!!

If he had income of more than $5050 in 2024 (not counting any Social Security), he cannot be claimed as anyone else's dependent.   Did he have any income in 2024?   You mention working from home and severance.

You can’t claim him if his income was more than $5050. You would also have to have provided more than half of his support for the year.
