Can I deduct a loss by a moving company?

During a move from Ohio to North Carolina the moving company damaged some of my belongings. The check they issued did not come close to the value of the items lost/damaged. Can I deduct the difference in value vs compensation?

Unfortunately, you can't deduct this loss.  Please see the TurboTax FAQ "What if I have property that was lost or damaged (a casualty loss)?" below for more information.
