Can I deduct tax paid to a second state?

Hello,  I had to pay taxes to a second state for a prior year in 2022. I had to pay because TT did not calculate my taxes properly, according to the State Tax people.  Can I deduct the amount I paid in 2024 on my current IRS tax form, and if so, where do I post it?  Thanks in advance for any information.

Yes you can deduct it if you itemize deductions on schedule A and don't take the Standard Deduction.

Enter it under
Federal Taxes (or Personal for H&B)
Deductions and Credits
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Update button

Next page scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2024
Balance due on your 2023 State taxes paid in 2024
or Payments for 2022 or a prior year state or local paid in 2024
